Healthy Family – Winter Activities

Iceskating

Cold winter weather doesn’t mean we have to trade in healthy activities for an inactive lifestyle. Winter is an excellent time to get outside and be active with your family. During this time, the outdoors take on a new look and often provide us with opportunities that only come around once a year. In the cold, wet, wind, and snow we are able to get the exercise that our bodies need while participating in exciting seasonal pastimes. Try some of these fun and healthy winter activities with your family:

▪ Sledding
▪ Skiing
▪ Snowboarding
▪ Snowshoeing
▪ Snow tubing
▪ Ice Skating
▪ Ice Hockey

Lives Transformed

John and Noel

Enjoy this wonderful story of a couples lives transformed by the program I coach! Here is John’s story in his own words:

“January 18, 2014 I made a choice to lose weight and to attempt to restore my health. When looking at God’s creation it was obvious I had not done a good job of keeping what He had created in Optimal Health. Like most who are overweight, I had set goals that focused somewhat on health issues, but in the back of my mind was the fact that weight loss was what I had hoped to achieve. Not a bad goal, but a new focus would unfold shortly after I started studying the “The Habits of Health” along with other educational materials from Take Shape for Life and the encouragement from our health coaches. Instead of just wanting to lose weight, I now wanted a healthy lifestyle. My wife, who did not have the severe overweight problem as me, joined me in the journey about 5 month into the program. Together we have lost 135 pounds and our health has improved beyond our doctors imagination. We are now living more active lives and enjoying our walk as we help others to Optimal Health.”

Results vary: Typical results are 2-5 pounds per week for the first 2 weeks and 1-2 pounds per week thereafter.

This special time of year is a great time to reflect on how far you’ve come this past year. Look at all that you have accomplished in taking steps toward improving your health each day! I am looking forward to walking with you in the new year and with new goals. I encourage you to start thinking about your goals over the next few weeks as you receive information and reminders about the six week “The Healthy Games” Challenge that starts in January. Enrollment starts on the 1st and the games begin on the 12th! Wishing you happy and healthy holidays!!
