Staying Hydrated While Exercising

As summer temperatures hit, here are a number of important tips.

Tip # 1 – Drink enough water to not feel thirsty.

Tip #2 – For moderate activities, less than 60 minutes, water is all we need to drink. Don’t worry about “replacing electrolytes” with fancy sports drinks.

Tip #3 – Begin exercise well-hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids the day before and within the hour before you exercise.

Tip #4 – Avoid alcohol the day before or the day of a long exercise bout. Avoid exercising with a hangover.

Tip #5. – ALWAYS carry water with you.

— If you are Bored with your water, here is a tip that a lot of people are trying… Add Fresh Fruits and Herbs to your glass! Just adding the flavor will not throw off your meal plan, and you will might be more interested in drinking more water than before!
— And mix it up, Be Creative!! Check out Pintrest and other health blogs for lots of fresh ideas on how to freshen up your water.

Weekly Healthy Recipe – Buffalo Chicken Salad

An incredible salad for the summer months. So Refreshing!

Ingredients –
3 Cups Lettuce of Your Choice
7 ounces cooked chicken
2 TBSP Frank’s Buffalo Wing sauce
1 TBSP Light Blue Cheese Crumbles (optional)
Small amount of Light Ranch Dressing

Put chicken in a bowl, add the wing sauce, and toss. Put the chicken mix on top of the lettuce, add the light blue cheese crumbles, and top with a small amount of light ranch dressing or have it on the side.

*Personal Side Tip – When you cook the chicken, it’s a great idea to cook an entire chicken up, and then you have enough for left overs and it creates a quick, nutritious source of protein on the go. 🙂
